POSITION SUMMARY:

 The MTSS Coordinator is responsible for organizing and implementing the development and implementation of a consistent Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) model of tiered intervention processes and procedures at the school level and across the district.

The coordinator will work directly with students, teaching staff, administration and outside services to provide necessary support for students to maximize student learning and academic growth, both socially and academically.   

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.     Master’s degree in education administration or curriculum and instruction.  Master’s degree in Education in an area related to academic accountability services preferred; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provided the required knowledge, skills and abilities.

2.     Must be certified as an educator in the State of Mississippi and hold a current license.  Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License.

3.     Demonstrated ability to communicate with students, teachers, parents and stakeholders.

4.     Organizational skills to complete tasks responsibly.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1.     Coordinate a multi-tiered model of support delivery that identifies student needs, establishes appropriate research based interventions and enables the efficient use of school resources.

2.     The MTSS Coordinator will provide information and professional development to school site teams, ensuring that MTSS components are established in the district.

3.     Collect, analyze, monitor and maintain student achievement data associated with MTSS providing regular updates to the school’s teachers and administrative team.

4.     Uses data to help teachers identify students who need additional support.

5.     Provides professional development to administrators and certified and classified staff on MTSS.

6.     Provides coaching and assistance to certified and classified staff in schools to improve student achievement.

7.     Review, process, and monitors all MTSS team referrals.

8.     Supports teachers in documenting student progress and cumulative reviews for MTSS.

9.     Promotes the use of research-based intervention in all three tiers of the MTSS process.

10.  Serves as School Testing Coordinator and supervises assessment administration.

11.  Assist district and school administrators in the implementation of MTSS, balanced assessment, assessment literacy, and Classroom Assessment for Student Learning.

12.  Collect, analyze, monitor and maintain student achievement data associated with MTSS providing regular updates to the school’s teachers and administrative team.

13.  Uses data to help teachers identify students who need additional support.

14.  Provides professional development to administrators and certified and classified staff on MTSS.

15.  Provides coaching and assistance to certified and classified staff in schools to improve student achievement.

16.  Review, process, and monitors all MTSS team referrals.

17.  Supports teachers in documenting student progress and cumulative reviews for MTSS.

18.  Promotes the use of research-based intervention in all three tiers of the MTSS process.

19.  Serves as School Testing Coordinator and supervises assessment administration.

  • Supervises the assessment calendar for district, state, and national tests.
  • Orders assessment materials
  • Organizes storage system for student scoring booklets (when applicable).
  • Manages the assessment team (when applicable).
  • Trains certified & classified staff on state, district, and national assessment procedures and policies.
  • Provides review sessions on critical administration rules and procedures prior to district benchmark and/or comprehensive tests (when applicable), as well as state and national assessments.
