POSITION SUMMARY:

Under administrative direction, the purpose of the position is to provide for the security and environmental safekeeping of an assigned location of the school district.  Employees in this classification are responsible for ensuring all persons entering and/or exiting assigned location are authorized on the premises, and perform interview and investigation activities in response to incidents, accidents, or unauthorized activities. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

High school diploma or GED; supplemented by a minimum one year previous experience and/or training in security, or any equivalent combination of related education, training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential job functions. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Responds to emergencies and critical incidents such as fire alarms or medical emergencies for the purpose of confining, resolving or preventing injurious or otherwise hazardous situations.
  2. Conducts security checks of facility and grounds perimeter for the purpose of identifying and resolving any suspected or real security breaches or violations.
  3. Performs investigative activities in response to complaints, incidents, accidents or other reported concern, i.e., auto accidents, illness or injury, missing students.
  4. Conducts safety and security related routine tasks, i.e., inspecting operating condition of security equipment, conducting fire drills, testing and inspecting fire equipment.
  5. Provides escort or transport to various persons, i.e., personnel leaving after hours, truant students, sick or injured persons, visitors.
  6. Maintains security and environmental safekeeping of the assigned district location; monitors weather station and scanning radios.
  7. Inspects facility areas for potential hazards, i.e., equipment left running, gas leaks.
  8. Provides security for entrances and gateways by checking visitor and parent identification and authorization information; provides direction and information as requested.
  9. Records various information in security and monitoring activities, i.e., daily activities, incident and sick call reports, maintenance requests, signs in logs.
  10. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
