POSITION SUMMARY:

Works under the direct supervision of the Director of Operations, the purpose of the position is to transport students, coaches, faculty and staff safely to and from school activities including field trips, athletic competition, band activities, etc. in a timely manner. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and possess or be able to obtain all valid applicable state licenses and other required certifications to operate company vehicles.
  • Must meet physical and medical requirements and pass substance abuse screening. 
  • Must demonstrate professional and courteous communication skills.
  • Must possess ability to lift and assist students when necessary.
  • Must practice defensive driving at all times and avoid vehicular and industrial accidents by practicing safe driving and work habits. 
  • Must be able to maintain effective pupil behavior management over groups of children.
  • Must have a high degree of attention and considerable dexterity to operate and control company vehicles.
  • Must satisfactorily complete and pass all driver-related training and attend all safety meetings and in-service meetings in order to remain qualified.

 

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Comply with all applicable federal and state regulations regarding the operation of various types of vehicles in transporting pupils to and from school, special events, field trips, etc.
  2. Conduct vehicle inspections as required by all applicable federal, state, local regulations and in accordance with company procedures. Does not operate an unsafe vehicle and reports mechanical malfunctions to the appropriate Maintenance Shop personnel.
  3. Adhere to the maximum of 50 M.P.H. speed limit at all times.
  4. Operates the bus in a safe manner at all times realizing that the safety of passengers is the top priority.
  5. Reports all personal motor vehicle violations to supervisor as required by DOT and Natchez-Adams School District policies and regulations.
  6. Keeps the interior of the vehicle clean and presentable.
  7. Completes pre-trip and post-trip
  8. Report discipline issues to school officials.
  9. Maintains a cooperative attitude with fellow employees, supervisors, parents, and school personnel.
  10. Do not use cellphone at any time operating company vehicle.
  11. Report all accidents to supervisor and law enforcement immediately.
